No doubt you’ve experienced the frustrations of poor WiFi or cellular signal. Sometimes the reason is obvious – if you’re separated from your WiFi router by thick walls, you wouldn’t expect to get a great signal. But more often than not, it’s not so straightforward.

Radio waves are emitted in patterns depending on the antenna, they reflect from some surfaces and travel through others, with attenuation depending on the type of material. Practically, you simply can’t predict what the signal will be from point A to point B unless you have a guaranteed line of sight.

One of the main benefits of a mesh network is that it takes the guesswork out of estimating point-to-point radio range. If you’re not pushing the boundaries of range and, better still, if you have redundancy in your network topology, you know your network will be reliable!
